1. Your body needs to cool down at night
Wearing PJs can make you feel warm and snug but it disrupts the body’s need to have a lower temperature at night. Sleeping naked can help your body stay cool.
2. You’ll be more active
Changing out of our ‘day clothes’ means we’re reluctant to go out once inside. If you keep your clothes on until bedtime, you’ll have one less excuse to not step outside.
3. You’ll age faster if you don’t
The release of anti-aging hormones, like melatonin and growth hormones, is disrupted by warmth. Sleeping in the buff will allow the hormones to rejuvenate you.
4. There’ll be fewer laundry cycles
Since you won’t be wearing any clothes to bed, you’ll won’t need to wash as many clothes as you usually do. Think of the water conservation!
5. Cortisol decreases when you sleep soundly
Sleeping naked allows you to rest properly, which lowers cortisol levels, the hormone which controls energy and appetite. If cortisol is low, so is your desire for “comfort foods”.
6. It’s cheaper on your pocket
Not only is sleeping in the buff good for your health, it is also good for your wallet. You won’t spend any extra money on clothes that you wear to bed.
7. It increases your confidence level
Most of us learn to hide our bodies behind layers of clothes. At one level, this can make us feel ashamed and insecure about our bodies. Sleeping naked helps boost your body confidence.
8. Your skin needs to breathe
Especially body parts like the armpits, genitals, and feet, which are restricted all day (especially in the winters) and need to be “aired out”.
9. It will lead to a better sex life
Oxytocin, the love hormone, is released when we have skin-to-skin contact with our partners. It also helps regulate blood pressure and keeps your gut healthy.
10. Lower chances of yeast infections
The vagina has certain bacteria and yeast at all times; however, if moist conditions persist (as can be the case when sleeping with underwear) yeast infections can crop up.
11. It keeps the sperm healthy
Sleeping in the nude allows the testes to remain at a cooler temperature, which is very good for the sperm count. This helps the reproductive system function normally.
